Okana SENSE™
Connector
Autonomy’s comprehensive range of connector products provides
information connectivity to over 400 different information repositories.
The Okana SENSE™
Connector augments these by catering for
specialist scenarios where there needs to be some additional
handshaking, complex index manipulation or other dependency
which necessitates specific programmatic
control. SENSE Connector can also be used to normalise data formats
where a common
application schema may be required, for example by our SENSE Archive
product.
Specifically, Okana's SENSE Connector can deal with any of the
following scenarios :-
- Connecting to RDBMS content which must be synchronised to a
transactional level with IDOL Server (two-way handshaking and control).
- Connecting to RDBMS content which must be published to IDOL
Server with the lowest possibly latency (similar to a push model).
- Connecting to one or more content sources which require
complex and
normalised transformation
prior to indexing into IDOL Server. This typically occurs when some
form
of normalisation is needed as is the case with historic data archives.
SENSE Connector uses a plug-in DLL model to allow for complex data
transformations and physical underlying formats. The advantage of this
model is that all transformation can take place as close to the
original data source as possible, prior to output into XML or IDX, thus
reducing WAN traffic.
- Transforming any incoming data to the same underlying data
schema in use by a SENSE Framework-powered application. This model
allows the application to stay agnostic to any changes in underlying
data repositories by applying schema mapping at the Connector layer.
Okana’s SENSE Connector is currently available as a stand-alone product
for MS
Windows Platforms. Other platforms are available on request.
