Okana SENSE™ Automatic Conceptual Search

SENSE Automatic Conceptual Search helps users to more accurately frame their initial query intent through suggested concepts - before even hitting the search button. The result?  An IDOL7 meaning-based search with more targeted and conceptually relevant initial results, thus reducing further refinement effort and iteration.

Users typically only enter 2.3 search terms in their queries which leads to a process we are all familiar with; refining queries by adding more terms. But unlike most search engines IDOL7 allows users to provide more initial meaning to queries; more search terms.

Okana SENSE Automatic Conceptual Search (ACS) combines two key IDOL7 functions, Meaning Based Search and Automatic Query Guidance, into a simple user-friendly tool which creates better meaning, intent and hence better initial results.

As users type in their query SENSE ACS suggests matches from the key concepts in the underlying document collection. This level of functionality is becoming quite common in search applications to help users more rapidly complete their queries.

However, SENSE ACS takes this a step further by allowing users to then go on to navigate a more targeted set of key concepts around the initial selection, this can be used to further expand the original query terms. The result – a meaning based query with many more query terms and moreover one which more accurately frames the key concepts you are looking for.

In addition to automatically generated concepts, SENSE ACS is inherently flexible and can be seeded with any other dataset from your Enterprise or Online data, including common queries, promoted products or business entities such as employee and client names.  Whatever you believe will help guide users to a more relevant initial query, and hence content, quickly and easily.

SENSE ACS is a component from the SENSE suite of search applications and additionally available as a separate module for integration with existing Autonomy Applications.
