OKANA LAUNCH SENSE2 ENTERPRISE SEARCH & APPLICATION FRAMEWORKS FOR AUTONOMY IDOL7

Rapidly Deployable SENSE2 Enterprise Search extends Okana SENSE to provide completely declarative IDOL-powered Pan-Enterprise Search, Online and Knowledge Management Meaning Based Applications.

Accelerate Delivery of Complex Autonomy Meaning Based Computing Solutions powered by IDOL7 using Okana SENSE2 Application Frameworks.

London, 1st February 2010 - Okana Systems Limited, a leading Meaning Based Computing solutions company, today unveiled their SENSE2 Enterprise Application, SENSE2.NET and Java SENSE2 Application Frameworks for Autonomy IDOL7.

Okana SENSE™, launched in 2009 and powered by IDOL7, has been extremely well received by customers and prospects, through its combination of rich functionality, consumer-oriented user interface and rapid application through its unique declarative approach to IDOL configuration.

SENSE2 extends this functionality to include features which take IDOL-powered Meaning Based Applications to a new level, both Online and in the Enterprise:

  • Support for rich Meaning Based Knowledge Management Applications through declarative Knowledge Brands; rapidly deploy a solution against any internal and external collections, Wikis, Enterprise Social Media, Best Practice and Subject Matter Experts all through simple configuration.
  • Exposes declarative cross-collection IDOL functionality, allowing a deployment to grow with your data, exploiting application functionality for new collections automatically and immediately. Once indexed, simply configure the new collection and it appears in the application with all available UI functions.
  • Personalisation, User  Preferences and Saved Searches now automatically inherit declarative details of the underlying data source, providing users with immediate and rich granular control of application functionality for each collection.
  • For general Meaning Based Applications, declarative Support for multiple collections and data schemas in the same session allows maximum flexibility and dynamic capability in exposing IDOL functions on any collection without additional programming.  This is also available at the SENSE2 Framework level in order to build Meaning Based Applications from the ground-up.

SENSE Enterprise Search, launched in 2009, is a fully featured IDOL7 powered solution offering the kinds of functionality and consumer-oriented user experience typically demanded by large organisations looking to deploy Pan Enterprise Search solutions today. All underlying functionality is brought to you by Autonomy’s Unique Meaning Based Technology, including:
  • A single, unified view of all information in the Enterprise which respects underlying document entitlement.
  • A simple, clean user interface with which users will be immediately at home
  • Conceptual and Keyword Search.
  • The latest “Drill down” query refinement model and refinement trail navigator, as opposed to “fill-in-the form” advanced search approaches.
  • Parametric (Directed/Faceted) Navigation; by document type (e.g. Word, PDF), location, author or any other available meta field from within Enterprise Document Management Systems or filesystems.
  • Federated Search (across internal or external systems; people finder, client directories etc)
  • Show Similar Documents and People (More like this).
  • Automatic Query Guidance for conceptual results refinement.
  • Automatically highlighted conceptual summaries in search results.
  • Did You Mean? Spelling Correction.
  • Document Level Meta Data Search and Viewer.
  • Format Agnostic Document Viewer automatically re-purposes and highlights documents to HTML for viewing within a browser without the need to leave the search tool and launch native applications such as MS Office or Document Management Tools.
  • Automatic Metadata Eduction; documents are tagged with people, places, companies which are mentioned. These can be further used to refine query result sets.
  • RSS Feeds allowing alerting of new search results which become available without the need to revisit the user interface.
  • Saved Searches, Personalisation and Expert Search.
  • Business-controlled Recommended Links (requires integration with Autonomy Business Console) allowing promotion over specific documents by association with search terms.
  • Direct and Automatic Integration with External Sources such as Moreover News allowing a unified view across internal and external content.
  • Latest CSS driven templates allow for major re-styling and branding of the UI according to corporate standards with no code changes.
  • Configurable for all data formats and security models currently supported by IDOL7.

Designed with rapid-deployment and flexibility in mind, SENSE2 Enterprise Search is based upon Okana’s schema-agnostic SENSE2.NET Application Framework which makes it deployable against any metadata schema without any additional programming, allowing organisations to make full use of all existing and future metadata to enhance the user search experience and improve results navigation.

SENSE2 is expected to be available as a beta release during early Q3 2010.
